Summary: Shishido finds out Ohtori's parents are planning a wedding.

Author's Notes: Okay, so people asked what would happen when Shishido finds out. Because I am sheep, I could not resist the plot bunny's temptation and had to write it. -_-;

It was on a non-descript evening during an uneventful dinner when Ohtori’s mother asked Ohtori, “Choutarou, why don’t you bring your Shishido-sempai to meet us formally? It’s only courteous.”

Ohtori promptly choked on his soup and barely got his breath back when his father chimed in.

“Your mother’s right. You wouldn’t want Shishido-kun think that you’re ashamed of him, would you?”

“Iya,” Ohtori denied immediately. However, he was unsure how to explain that it wasn’t Shishido-san that was making him hesitate.

“Good, then it’s settled. How about next weekend? Your sister will be home too.”

And that was that.

The following week, Ohtori tried to work up the nerve to ask Shishido-san over to his house and somehow slip in the information that his parents had a) requested a formal meeting and b) knew about their relationship. The task was not, however, as easy as it sounds, considering Shishido-san had a tendency, though Ohtori loathed to admit it, to be on the denser side of…well, everything with exception to tennis.

Which was how Ohtori found himself on Friday afternoon standing in the middle of the changing room after practice and asking Shishido-san to dinner the next day with the excuse that his parents want to meet him. Shishido-san had looked confused and asked hadn’t he already been introduced to his parents, to which Ohtori had no good response other than a meek “Hai.”

Instead of elaborating when Shishido-san had asked, “Well, why do they want to meet me again?” Ohtori merely made big eyes and looked desperate, a feat in of itself considering Ohtori had been towering over Shishido-san at the time and looking down tended to cut down on the amount of large watery eyes one can give. Thankfully, Shishido-san had caved neatly under the well-practiced pleading looking and agreed without further pursuing for a reason.

As Ohtori walked out, satisfied he’d accomplished the daunting task of inviting Shishido-san to meet his parents, he was jumped by Mukahi-sempai, who had appeared out of nowhere. Instead of going off on another lecture, Mukahi-sempai had merely patted him on the back then gave him a look of the deepest sympathy before walking off with a shake of his head, muttering something about bricks and idiots.

The idiot comment Ohtori was beginning to agree with as the weekend dinner approached and he sat in his sister’s room while she fussed over his hair.

“It’s short,” his sister complained as she fluffed his hair and aimed a blow dryer at the mop of unkempt and half-wet tresses. She shook her silver ponytail to emphasize her point. “I can’t do anything with it. I’m afraid you’ll have to look like a porcupine for dinner.”

Before Ohtori could protest that he wasn’t the one who had insisted on getting his hair styled, the doorbell rang. Ignoring his sister’s orders to sit down, he dashed out of her room and down the stairs, in hopes of intercepting his parents before they got to Shishido-san.

He arrived at the entrance hall in time to see his father sling an arm around an uncomfortable looking Shishido-san dressed in a crisp white shirt and dark dress slacks, hair pulled back in a shining ponytail that looked slightly fuzzy, clearly fresh from the shower. Shishido-san greeted his father politely and quickly, then covertly threw him a look that had “help” written all over it.

“Welcome to the family,” Ohtori’s father was saying as he guided Shishido-san into the sitting room and making Ohtori nervous with the need to yank his sempai away and maybe hide him in his closet until his parents had to leave for work again. Thankfully, his father was interrupted from further embarrassing Ohtori when he was cut-off by his mother, who had bustled in with, “Ah, I see Shishido-kun has arrived. Please have a seat and since Choutarou never gave an answer, I’ll have to ask myself, what is your opinion of white?”

“It’s white,” Shishido-san answered in a bewildered daze. Ohtori could feel his ears burn as he silently apologized to his sempai for his mother’s behavior.

“Ah, then you don’t mind?” Ohtori’s mother persisted.

“N-not really, no,” Shishido-san answered as his confusion grew. “Why?”

“Oh, for the wedding,” his mother replied off-handedly as she breezed out of the room to do whatever it was she was doing in the kitchen.

“Wedding?!” Shishido-san exclaimed as he turned to Ohtori for an explanation. At the same time, his father asked, “What? Choutarou didn’t tell you?”

Ohtori opened his mouth to explain to both parties when his sensitive hearing, thanks to years of musical training, picked up on the telltale sound of his sister’s door banging open. However, at the same time as he mouthed “Run Shishido-san” a high pitched “Kya~!” was heard followed by running footsteps.

Before the males in the room had a chance to respond, Ohtori’s sister had appeared in front of Shishido-san and made cooing noises that sounded like “Oh my, Shishido-kun, you’ve grown out your hair! It’s beautiful. What brand of conditioner do you use to get it to shine like that?”

Shishido-san blinked at Ohtori’s sister and answered in a small voice, “Um, I don’t use conditioner.”

There was a slight pause and time seemed to stop as Ohtori witnessed his sister looking at Shishido-san in silent accusation of blasphemy. Then she grabbed Shishido-san by the arm just as Ohtori thought “Oh no!” and announced, “Well, we’re going to have to fix that.”

As she dragged Shishido-san up the stairs, he threw Ohtori a look that Ohtori was certain was screaming “Help! Help! I’m being abducted by a madwoman!”

“Don’t look so worried, Choutarou,” his father comforted him with a sound pat as he stared helplessly at the two disappearing ponytails, one dark and one light. “Your sister will be gentle with him.”

Suddenly Ohtori was reminded of a day in first grade. He’d been newly accepted into Hyoutei’s elementary division and attended class with his friends. However, when one of the sixth year sempai had found out Ohtori played the violin, he had led a group of boys and began teasing Ohtori during lunchtime about his “girly” hobby. Although Ohtori did not remember much from the encounters, he did remember the very angry look on his sister’s face when she had punched out the boy’s two upper front teeth and told him in a low voice, “Tease my brother again and you’ll be more than sorry.”

Rightfully concerned by the memory, Ohtori tore himself away and ran upstairs. As he burst into his sister’s room with the vague horror that he might find his sister towering over Shishido-san with the same threatening look, he only found Shishido-san scowling into the mirror Ohtori had been looking into not a few minutes ago as his sister sprayed something into the chestnut tresses. Then, she fished out an atrociously shiny Hyoutei-blue ribbon and tied it to Shishido-san’s ponytail with expert ease.

The two turned as Ohtori intruded into his sister’s room and Shishido-san lost the scowl, looking suddenly relieved.

“Ah, I think dinner’s ready,” Ohtori announced as the silence dragged on.

His sister immediately shooed Shishido-san, ribbon and all, out of the room, saying they’ll be down in just a minute and soundly shut the door. Ohtori gaped at the rude behavior and yelped, “Onee-san!”

“It’ll just be a minute, Choutarou,” his sister waved the reprimand away then made a motion for him to sit. “Now, listen. I see how happy he makes you and I really think he’s good for you. But if he ever hurts you, in anyway, just say the word…”

The dark look from Ohtori’s memories was crawling up his sister’s features and Ohtori quickly denied, “Shishido-san would never hurt me!” in a voice louder than usual. A small part of his brain wondered if eloping was a viable option to avoid having relatives like these appearing at the wedding, but suddenly blanked out as it realized it was agreeing to his mother’s wedding suggestions.

“Good, then we have nothing to worry about,” his sister declared. With a sweeping gesture, she pulled Ohtori up from his seat and dragged him down to the dining hall. As they arrived, Ohtori was greeted with what looked like the beginning of a five-course meal and a stiff Shishido-san sitting awkwardly at his seat. Though he did not seem to have been bombarded by embarrassing questions and Ohtori thanked god for small favors.

The main course of dinner was a fairly uneventful affair. It was mostly filled with mundane chatter and questions to Shishido-san had revolved around his post-graduation plans. Ohtori was once again grateful that they were at least allowed to eat in peace.

However, as dinner continued into dessert, Ohtori’s father asked just as Shishido-san bit into his lemon meringue pie, “Now I’ve been curious. Shishido-kun, do you and Choutarou plan to adopt?”

Shishido-san immediately began choking loudly as Ohtori cried with horrified embarrassment, “Otou-san!”

“What?” his father countered with a look of false innocence. “It’s a legitimate question. Unless technology advanced so that men can bear children, I’m assuming you’ll have to adopt if you want children.”

“Your father’s right, Choutarou,” his mother piped in with a serious countenance and a mischievous twinkle in her eye. “One should clear up these issues before the wedding to ensure a long lasting marriage.”

“I think you’re both jumping the gun,” his sister broke into the conversation, earning Ohtori’s thanks momentarily as she’d saved him from pointing out that he and Shishido-san were not making wedding plans, or any plans for that matter. Then she ruined it by adding, “The more immediate questions is: are you using protection?”

“We haven’t done anything!” Ohtori finally exploded as he burst out of his seat. His parents and sister looked on with matching amused grins. Recognizing defeat, he muttered, “Can we be excused?” and dragged his still choking sempai away without waiting for an answer.

As they arrived in the safe haven of Ohtori’s room away from his parents’ insanity, Shishido-san collapsed onto Ohtori’s bed with a deep breath, finally clearing his air passage.

“Wedding?” Shishido-san wheezed as he tried to catch his breath, looking at Ohtori with something akin to shock or horror or both.

Instead of answering, Ohtori knelt onto the floor between Shishido-san’s open legs and buried his face into Shishido-san’s stomach. Wrapping his arms around Shishido-san’s waist, he stayed still until he felt Shishido-san’s hands slowly stroking through his hair in a calming gesture.

Slowly feeling the tension uncoil, Ohtori relaxed into Shishido-san, letting his weight sink into the body in his arms. As his breathing slowed, he asked into the shirt fabric, “What do you say to eloping?”
