Dream Within a Dream

I don't get it. How can someone write an AU that is engaging with its new ideas yet at the same time fail utterly to write the same characters in character when playing around in the original canon?

I've got nothing.


In other news, I've spent about 5 hours in lab now and will probably be spending even more, since the experiment doesn't seem to be coming to an end. And I have two exams next week. Lovely. ;_;
